Who the brand is for
For anyone looking for smart everyday clothing without a big logo, at the office or on the weekend. bugatti sells jackets, coats, blazers, shirts, knitwear, trousers and jeans for men, now also a womenswear collection, plus shoes and accessories from luggage to fragrances. It sits in the middle of the price range: the bestselling chino cost €99.99 in the German online shop, the bestselling jeans €89.99. Since 2025 bugatti has presented itself as explicitly Italian, with campaigns and a capsule collection around Forte dei Marmi.
Who owns the brand
According to the company history on the brand’s website, Friedrich Wilhelm Brinkmann founded a contract manufacturer of women’s and men’s clothing in 1947 and presented his first collection, coats and trousers, a year later. The brand says it has carried the bugatti name since 1978. In 1986 his sons Wolfgang and Klaus Brinkmann joined the management; after their father’s death in 1994 they took over completely. From the third generation, Markus and Julius Brinkmann have worked as CEOs since 2009, Lena Brinkmann since 2013 as head of womenswear.
The brand is run by bugatti GmbH in Herford, named on the product pages as the responsible economic operator; the legal notice lists all four Brinkmanns as managing directors. Above it sits bugatti Holding Brinkmann GmbH & Co. KG, which also owns the suit maker Dressler, Wilvorst and the equestrian brands Pikeur and Eskadron. According to its own release, the group had revenue of €191 million in 2025, up one percent, and employs 557 people, 210 of them at the Herford headquarters.
The 13 licensees using the bugatti name sell almost as much as the entire group — on a separate account.
Licensing is the growth driver: 13 partners who sell bags, leather goods and luggage, among other things, under the bugatti name reached around €166 million in 2025, up seven percent. This revenue is not included in the group figure. Anyone buying a bugatti suitcase may therefore be buying from a licensee rather than the family company itself; the release does not say which products this covers in detail.
Where it is sold
According to the release from May 2026, bugatti is represented internationally in 42 stores and on around 400 retail spaces. In Germany there are 12 own and 6 franchise stores, around 250 retail spaces and 8 outlets. The brand makes 61.4 percent of its revenue abroad, mainly in Austria, Italy, the Benelux countries, Ireland and the United Kingdom.
Where it is made
That remains open. On bugatti’s websites we found neither a list of production facilities nor a list of countries, and the online shop has no sustainability page of its own. The two products we checked name no country of origin either; under “product safety and manufacturer information” they only give bugatti GmbH in Herford as the responsible economic operator. The material details, by contrast, are complete: the chino is 85 percent cotton, 12 percent elastomultiester and 3 percent elastane, the jeans 97 percent cotton and 3 percent elastane.
What the price buys — our assessment
This section is an assessment. At almost €100 for a chino you pay for a familiar name, dependable cuts and a well-developed retail network. You learn an unusual amount about the company for a mid-sized business, but nothing about where the goods come from. For comparison, Levi's puts the country of origin on the product and publishes a full facility list.
How we checked
We read the company history, legal notice and press release word for word on 29 September 2026, as well as the product pages of the two bestsellers, chino 4220-16224 in navy and jeans 3919D-26612 in blue. We searched the brand website and the press release for a factory list, country details and memberships in industry initiatives.

A garment is made across several countries. The label almost always names only one of them. Which one, and what falls away in the process.
We asked twenty brands across four groups the same question: does the product page say where the item was made? The answer has nothing to do with price — and that is the real story.
