One word on the product page
On 30 July 2026 we opened the page for the Rio Full-Brogue, €845, upper in “Toscana Calf”. Among the details sits a field with a single word: “Spain”. No phrasing, no “made in”, no city — just the country.
The entry changes by model. On the Buda Full-Brogue it reads “Hungary”. The field is therefore maintained, not a default.
The relocation is in the company’s own history
The company history page states verbatim that Heinrich Dinkelacker moved production to Almansa, Spain — “a town with over 300 years of shoemaking tradition”. The company dates the step to 2020 and additionally names Tuscany for individual models.
The workshop was founded in 1879 in Sindelfingen. Head office and offices today sit in Berlin and Bietigheim-Bissingen — manufacturing does not.
Where it blurs
The homepage advertises “100% European manufacturing”. That is accurate and at the same time says nothing about the country. The “manufactory” page names no location at all, speaks of “our manufactory” and calls the process a secret.
Read a German name alongside “European manufacturing” and you fill in the missing country yourself.
This is not an accusation: the precise statement sits on every product page and the relocation in the company history. But they sit in places you have to seek out, while the name is everywhere.
What stays open
No facility, no address.
Neither for Almansa nor for Tuscany is a business named. The brand stops at town and region.
And one point we could not resolve.
A widespread account has models such as the Rio made in Italy. The manufacturer’s own product data lists the Rio as “Spain”. We follow the company’s statement and record the discrepancy.
