Evidence for the price Below what this price band usually documents
A field nobody else fills
On 31 July 2026 the Sergio cashmere jumper was checked, product code FAQ4518, colour Smoked Violet, €1,300, 100% cashmere. The specification list says “Made in Italy” — so far like many others.
The difference sits in the data sheet behind the page. The data sheet from which search engines and comparison services draw their details records the country of origin as a field of its own:
"countryOfOrigin": { "@type": "Country", "name": "Italy" }
That is the field the standard provides for origin. Of 23 brands checked, exactly this one fills it. All the others — from the €20 t-shirt to the €4,300 bag — leave it empty, including those that say far more in their running text.
And at the same time the thinnest statement
In substance “Made in Italy” says the least an origin statement can say. No town, no facility, no production stage. On a €1,300 jumper.
Velasca names the town of Montegranaro for its shoes. Natalino names Naples 58 times. Asket discloses seventeen production steps with supplier names. All three are invisible to machines.
From which follows the sentence that holds for this whole site: how precisely a brand discloses, and whether that disclosure can be queried, are two separate decisions. Neither tells you anything about the other.
Traceability as a story
Under “Pecora Nera” the house runs a traceability narrative of its own, along with a certificate via QR code and a blockchain solution from the Aura Blockchain Consortium.
What is not there is a list. No facility names, no addresses, no count. A certificate on the individual piece answers the question about the individual piece; it does not answer where this house has its goods made overall.
That is the difference between traceability and disclosure, and it shows clearly here.
Where the disclosure ends
There is no factory or supplier list.
And founding year, registered seat and ownership could not be established from the pages checked.
Group membership of LVMH is documented elsewhere on this site, but not on the product or sustainability page checked here.
How we checked
We went through the product page and the company pages by hand, opening every collapsible panel individually. All quotations appear in the brand’s own wording; figures and fields were verified against the page source. The date of each check is given with the source.
Verifiable statements with a source, not a rating. We publish no ethics score of our own — for that, follow the external link.

A garment is made across several countries. The label almost always names only one of them. Which one, and what falls away in the process.
We asked twenty brands across four groups the same question: does the product page say where the item was made? The answer has nothing to do with price — and that is the real story.
Questions readers ask
What does Loro Piana do differently?
It records the country of origin in the machine-readable data sheet behind the page — one of only three among 25 brands checked.
Does that make the statement especially precise?
No. In substance “Made in Italy” is the thinnest possible form: no town, no facility, no production stage. What is special is only where it sits.
Is there a factory list?
No. There is a traceability presentation with a certificate and QR code, but no list of facility names or addresses.
