A section headed “Origin”

On 30 July 2026 we loaded eight product pages in full. On the seersucker shirt at €134.90 a section of its own is headed “Herkunft” — origin — and reads:

Unseren Seersucker beziehen wir von der renommierten Weberei Sidogras in Spanien und lassen daraus in einer kleinen Fertigungsstätte in Portugal unsere Hemden anfertigen.
We source our seersucker from the renowned Sidogras mill in Spain and have our shirts made from it in a small production facility in Portugal. (our translation)

Two stages are named, each with a country, and the mill additionally by name. The specification line on the same item adds “Made in Europe: fabric from the renowned Sidogras mill, manufactured in Portugal”.

“Made in Europe” on its own would say nothing — Europe is not a country of manufacture. Here the term is resolved in the same breath, and that is what sets it apart from its usual use.

The knitwear names Inner Mongolia

On the summer jumper at €124.90 and the knitted polo at €109.90 a different place appears, and it is not hidden:

Das Rohmaterial unserer Garne wird dort selbst bezogen, gefärbt, gesponnen und gestrickt – alles in-house von einem kleinen, eingespielten Team mit Sitz in der Inneren Mongolei.
The raw material for our yarns is sourced, dyed, spun and knitted there in-house, by a small, well-drilled team based in Inner Mongolia. (our translation)

Inner Mongolia is a region in northern China. Four production steps are named in one place — sourcing the raw material, dyeing, spinning, knitting.

That is more than most houses in this research say about any product, and it is notable because a German brand names China here rather than avoiding the word. This site is not concerned with which country appears, but with whether one appears at all.

And then the two dearest pieces

Here is the range by price, as we found it.

€46.90 — long-sleeve tee: “Made in Turkey”.
€109.90 — knitted polo: Inner Mongolia, four production steps.
€124.90 — summer jumper: Inner Mongolia, everything in-house.
€134.90 — seersucker shirt: mill in Spain, manufacture in Portugal.
€139.90 — Chicago shirt: “manufactured in Portugal”.
€419.90 — New York jacket: nothing stated.
€449.90 — Hamburg club blazer: nothing stated.

The two dearest pieces in the range we checked are the only ones without a place. We searched the source of both, not merely the visible text — nothing there either.

Until now we knew this pattern only between brands: Weekday names the factory and its headcount, Céline names no country at a thousand times the price. Here it sits inside a single range.

What we do not conclude from it

Both silent pieces are collaborations with SIR of Sweden — a brand that names no origin on eight of eight of its own product pages either.

That is a coincidence of facts, no more. Who decides what appears on the page for a joint piece does not follow from the material. We record the finding and leave the inference alone.

It remains striking all the same: the third joint piece, the Chicago shirt at €139.90, does name Portugal.

A trap when checking

Every page in this shop carries Portugal, Spain, Italy, Lithuania and Poland — twice each, identically on all pages. That is a shipping-country list in the footer and has nothing to do with the product.

Count country names instead of reading sentences and you will write down five countries of origin where none is meant. We mention it because automated analysis works exactly that way — and because the same count nearly led us astray.

Where the disclosure ends

No facility is named — except the mill. The “small production facility in Portugal” stays unnamed, as does the knitting team in Inner Mongolia.

There is no supplier list.

And none of it appears in the structured data.

There was no hit for an origin field on any page we checked. As at Mango, Myrqvist and Velasca, the disclosure is readable by humans only.
