Eight out of eight
On 30 July 2026 we loaded eight product pages in full. All eight name a country of manufacture: Portugal seven times, Italy once.
On the Emil waistcoat at €120 the statement sits at the end of the specification list, between horn buttons and jetted pockets: “Made in Portugal”. No heading, no seal, no paragraph about values — the statement simply sits where the lining and the buttons sit.
On the shirt, the mill as well
The James denim shirt at €175 goes a step further:
Stoffgewicht 250 g/m², gewebt von Albini, gefertigt in Portugal
Fabric weight 250 gsm, woven by Albini, manufactured in Portugal (our translation)
Upstream stage and manufacture are named in a single line — the mill by name, the country of manufacture alongside.
That is exactly the combination missing at houses that name only the flattering half. GANT names the Thomas Mason mill and stays silent on the sewing; Suitsupply names the Piacenza mill and stays silent on assembly. Here both stand side by side, on a €175 shirt.
A German name and a different place of making
“Anton Meyer” sounds German. Manufacturing, by the brand’s own account, is overwhelmingly in Portugal.
That is entirely ordinary and no contradiction in itself. It is worth setting the case beside Heinrich Dinkelacker, though: there a German heritage name from 1879 carries Spanish manufacturing, and the homepage advertises “100% European manufacture” without naming a place.
The difference lies not in the facts but in the disclosure. Here the country appears on every product page we checked.
And again not in the data
None of the eight pages carried an origin field in its structured product data. Zero hits for countryOfOrigin and countryOfAssembly.
That makes Anton Meyer the sixth case in this round with the same finding, after Mango, Myrqvist, Velasca, Pini Parma and Frederic's. Across this entire segment, origin is text, not data.
Where the disclosure ends
The manufacturing facility is not named, only the country. There is no supplier list.
And we could not establish the founding year or registered seat.
The about page carries no date and the legal notice could not be read cleanly by machine. Both therefore stay empty rather than being guessed.
